A major problem in our community is stray animals. About 70 million animals live on the streets of America. Many animals have been abandoned, born, or gotten lost and are now living on the side of the road. I’m interested in this issue because me and my mom have seen and rescued a couple animals. Which means there are many more who live on the streets forever because their owners never find them. Other people should care because the dogs that do live on the street are more likely to get diseases like rabies and could bite people. Issue (The issue with people are the say,”Grace smelled bad. Charlie was too affectionate. Max liked to kill chickens. Xerox humped pillows.) Since 2010, nearly 1,000 animals have been returned to the Wake County Animal Center in Raleigh, some as many as four times. Just like Grace, Max, Charlie and Xerox, each animal has a story, a reason it was returned. The sad thing is that people do not know their backstory. People might not know they might have been treated badly and they might just be looking for someone to love. We treat them wrong that is the issue. (Each time a pet is brought back, shelter employees ask the owner what went wrong and record the reason in a computer system. WRAL News reviewed five years of the shelter's logs, which are public record, and got a glimpse into the sometimes revolving door of animal adoption. Shelter director Jennifer Federico examined some of the cases as well and often shook her head as she read through the files. "This one, this one killed me," she said, scrolling through the cases on her computer. "We had one person return an animal because it got too big. I'm like, 'We told you it was a Mastiff mix.)( wral news) It is bad that people mistreat animals but the sad thing about it is that you don't even give them a chances. Just like people animals need love to we all need to show love to pets so they don't feel like trash.people don't give animals a chance we need to not find love in are pets. the issue is that people do not like how animals smell or do thing and that is sad how people act like that. We need to find some solutions to help the animals and we need to elements all of the issue and find solutions to all of the issues. Soultions In our community there are many organizations trying to help homeless animals find a loving home. There is an organization called C.A.R.E for animals located in raleigh nc that has many programs where people can help animals. Like if you want rescue and adoption a homeless animal there is a program called “ the pet connection “. There is another program called “youth & pets together “ that is for youth groups that want to volunteer. The program is to help educate young kids from ages 11-17 learn about important aspects of animal welfare. Not to forget for all the “ cat lovers” out there this organization also has a program for cats called “Feral Friends “ this program helps educate to reduce the feral ( unsocialized ) cat overpopulation . In this organization you can also foster animals if you would like to save an animals life. There is another organization called Wake County animal care. That also helps take care of homeless animals. They do there best to help find a loving home for their animals. They are located here in Raleigh NC. All their volunteers do their best to help and you should too. The reason why we all as a community should care about this problem is because animals need love to just like people do. There are so many animals out there trying to find a loving home, trying to find someone to love and be loved back. May people just see animals as trash that you can just throw away, but they're not they have feelings. Even animals deserve a loving home. Biography
